Attitudes Hair and Spa: A legacy of beauty and community in Elliot Lake
Spa has evolved since its inception from original KC Nails into flourishing establishment
Attitudes Hair and Spa, 10 Paris Drive, Unit 4 in Elliot Lake stands as a beauty and wellness centre offering a comprehensive range of aesthetic services under one roof. Owned by Mississauga First Nations Tracy Aelick, and managed by her daughter Amber Piette, the spa has evolved significantly since its inception, transforming from the original KC Nails into the flourishing establishment it is today. With a dedicated team of 13 employees and a spacious 3,500 square foot facility, Attitudes Hair and Spa epitomizes indulgence.
The spa’s story is deeply rooted in family and resilience. Originally founded by Aelicks sister, Kim Clouthier, KC Nails catered primarily to nail services. Tragically, Kim’s untimely passing in 2014 left a void in the community and within the family. The business merged with Blondies Hair salon and rebranded the business in 2008, introducing Attitudes Hair and Spa. “We wanted to create a space that not only offered exceptional beauty services but also fostered a sense of community,” Aelick shares.
Today, Attitudes Hair and Spa is the only establishment in Elliot Lake that provides a full spectrum of aesthetic procedures under one roof. From hair and nails to laser treatments, clients are offered a one-stop shop for all their beauty needs.
“We are always striving to provide the best services possible, and our clients appreciate the convenience of having everything in one place,” says Aelick.
The spa adheres to stringent public health codes, routinely passing inspections to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for its clients. Staffed by qualified professionals, including cosmetic injection nurse Jonathan Woodward—who has undergone specialized training with Allergan, the manufacturer of Botox—and Piette, who is trained in laser tattoo removal, clients can trust that they are in capable hands. Piette’s expertise, honed through her training at Beautex, reflects the spa’s commitment to offering cutting-edge services.
The business has an extensive menu which includes massage therapy, lash and brow enhancements, waxing, medispa treatments, laser hair removal, and tattoo removal. The spa prides itself on offering deluxe services tailored to individual client needs.
“We believe in personalized care. Each client is unique, and our goal is to enhance their natural beauty,” Aelick explains.
Beyond beauty, the business places a significant emphasis on giving back to the community.
“We are always looking for ways to support local initiatives,” says Piette. The spa regularly donates gift baskets and gift cards, particularly during special occasions like Nurses Week, when they partner with St. Joseph’s Hospital to recognize the hard work of healthcare professionals. “It’s our way of saying thank you and supporting those who care for our community,” Aelick adds.
The bond that Attitudes Hair and Spa fosters with its clients goes beyond transactions; it cultivates friendships.
“We become friends with our clients,” Aelick states, highlighting the strong relationships built over the years. Piette echoes this sentiment, noting the emotional connection they share, particularly with their senior clientele. “It’s always heartbreaking when we lose them,” reflects the manager. “We cherish the time we spend with each client and strive to make their experience special.”
As the business continues to thrive, the legacy of Kim Clouthier remains an integral part of its foundation. Aelick and Piette are committed to honouring her memory while expanding the spa’s offerings and community contributions. With a focus on quality, safety, and personalized service, Attitudes Hair and Spa is a cherished part of the Elliot Lake community, where beauty and compassion intertwine.
