Kiara’s MedSpa opens in Taunton’s New York Lace offering Botox and more

TAUNTON — Kiara Milho has the beauty and health industries in her blood.
As a child, she grew up around her parents’ businesses, them being the owners of longtime downtown Taunton bridal store New York Lace, at 89 Main St., as well as the former Kiara Salon and Spa (named after her), which also operated out of that building for years.
“I was always into self-care,” said Milho, recalling helping at both businesses in her youth, with tasks like checking in customers, answering phones, getting supplies and products when asked, and assisting in other ways.
Kiara Salon and Spa closed down about eight years ago, said Milho, but her parents never leased the space to any other businesses. She explained that her mother, Dolores, “couldn’t imagine anyone else there.”
After working the last five years as a registered nurse, Milho, in 2024, made the “full circle” decision to take over the space and reopen it as Kiara MedSpa, saying beauty services like “facials and getting my nails done have always been important to me” and, since her youth, “I loved the spa world more than the bridal world.”
While being a different entity than the previous Salon, Kiara MedSpa is also “honoring my family’s legacy” with a revamped mission and array of health and beauty services.
“I didn’t think I’d ever open my own business. But it’s in my blood,” Milho.

What services are offered at Kiara MedSpa?
Milho thinks of the medical spa as a destination for beauty, relaxation and rejuvenation.
The personal care services Kiara MedSpa currently offers include skin rejuvenation methods, such as body scrubs, facial treatments and red light therapy, cosmetic injectables, such as Botox, laser hair removal, teeth whitening, and vitamin injections for things like boosting energy levels, immunity, and addressing other forms of wellness.
Depending on the type of service, treatments can range from short 20-30 minute sessions, to extensive 90-minute sessions.
In the coming months, the MedSpa will also reopen the hair and nail salon area in that space for manicures, petticures, hair care and other services.
Large, luxury space
When walking into the MedSpa, one may be taken aback by how large and spacious it is, beyond the lobby and salon area when you first walk in. There are multiple rooms intended for different kinds of treatment and purposes.
At Kiara MedSpa’s recent grand opening and ribbon cutting, officials like Mayor Shaunna O’Connell and City Councilor John McCaul could be heard saying multiple times how gorgeous the place is.
Milho said she put in a lot of hard work throughout much of 2024 renovating the space, with the goal not just of being able to offer a large assortment of services, but also make the environment “relaxing and luxurious” in order to “set the mood for the best treatment you can get.”

Extension of her nursing background
Milho said she considers the treatments and services offered by her MedSpa as an extension of her nursing background, all of which she is trained and certified to offer and administer.
Her interest in nursing started at a young age.
“Helping others has always been a passion of mine,” she said, citing often being there to help her mother, who has physical disabilities, with her needs.
Kiara said her parents never pressured her to enter into retail or take over the family businesses.
She graduated from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences with a bachelor’s degree in nursing in 2019.
Over the last five years, Milho has worked as a registered nurse, mainly in pediatrics, with employers like St. Luke’s Hospital, Boston Medical Center, and Greater New Bedford Community Health Center. She currently works part-time as a traveling registered nurse for Atrius Health.
She said the catalyst for opening the MedSpa was a certification course for aesthetic treatments, specifically administering Botox, dermal fillers, neurotoxins, and different types of facial treatments.
Location and convenience
Besides seeing the downtown Taunton location as being a prime spot for the business, the MedSpa’s proximity to New York Lace is also an advantage, said Milho, saying “the two businesses go hand-in-hand together” because “they are both about looking and feeling your best,” whether for those big days or on a regular basis.
Staff
Presently, Kiara is the only staff. She said she will be looking to hire in the coming months as appointment slots start filling up and the hair and nail salon area becomes operable.

Currents hours are by appointment only. No walk-ins at this time.
- Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Friday: 10 a.m.- 5 p.m.
- Saturday: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
