The Grand Brighton relaunches with L.Raphael Beauty Spa and Wellness and new annual membership

A hydrotherapy suite has been added to the mix

The spa also has a gym, with Technogym equipment for cardio, strength and functional training

Beauty brand LRaphael will be the sole skincare partner for the spa

The spa is offering annual memberships to locals for £1,600 (US$2,032, €1,888)

Guests of The Grand Brighton hotel in Brighton, UK, can now experience the property’s expanded spa – which has partnered with Swiss skincare and beauty brand L.Raphael.

The 205-key hotel, which originally opened in 1864, has undergone a £17 million (US$21.6 million, €20.1 million) renovation, £2.5 million (US$3.2 million, €3 million) of which was dedicated to the refurbishment and enhancement of the spa. The interior design throughout the property has been realised by Garuda Design.

Architecture is by Consarc, BSG UK were consulted for electrical and mechanical design and MGAC consulted on costs.

L.Raphael Beauty Spa and Wellness

Located on the lower-ground floor of the property, the spa has an increased footprint of 780sq m, a net gain of 150sq m.

The previous seven treatment rooms have been reduced to six, one of which is a couple’s room. All equipment and furniture has been supplied by Ellisons, including treatment and relaxation beds manufactured by Gharieni.

The biggest change is that while the spa had a small sauna, steamroom and a pool, there is now a hydrotherapy suite, with a hot tub, hydrotherapy pool, steamroom, sauna and experience showers. DaleSauna provided the wet facilities.

The former swimming pool has been replaced by a relaxation room with a large double bed in the centre of it. A dining venue has also been replaced by another lounge.

The reception area has been extended and also includes manicure and pedicure stations.

The spa also has a gym, with Technogym equipment for cardio, strength and functional training.

L.Raphael partnership

Beauty brand L.Raphael will be the sole skincare partner for the spa. The company is known for its oxygen and ultrasound treatments.

It offers face and body treatments as well as product lines segmented by age group and skin type.

Signature treatments on offer at the Brighton spa will include the 50-minute Secret of Lake Geneva aromatherapy massage, inspired by the eponymous location. This therapy costs £120 (US$152, €142).

The Revive Fusion Facial uses oxygen therapy with a diamond exfoliation to enhance absorption of skincare used in further steps. The facial also stimulates circulation. This 50-minute treatment costs £350 (US$445, €413).

Memberships

The spa is offering annual memberships to locals for £1,600 (US$2,032, €1,888).

This membership includes unlimited use of the thermal suite and the gym, as well as access to exclusive spa events for members. Exclusive promotions and offers will also be available, as well as one monthly free pass for a friend or family member to enjoy the thermal facilities.

Twice a year, members can have a 50-minute body massage or signature facial. They will also receive a treat on their birthday, such as a branded bottle or gym bag.

15 per cent discounts will be applied to spa treatments, 10 per cent of food and beverage bills will be deducted and members will also receive 15 per cent off bed and breakfast rates.

Murray Wilson, GM, The Grand Brighton, told Spa Business: “The refurbishment was central to ensuring The Grand Brighton continues to set the standard for luxury hospitality, matching our historic grandeur with modern comfort and wellness.

“The introduction of the L.Raphael Beauty Spa and Wellness, along with its membership programme, elevates our guest experience and positions us as a premier destination for relaxation,” continued Willson. “We expect the new spa to create a vibrant community of wellness-focused members, all while enhancing the overall value and appeal of our hotel.”
