Woman Leaves Senior Dog To Get Diet Pet Food, Unprepared for What He Steals

A senior Yorkshire terrier has gone viral after his owner left him alone for just a few moments—and he used that window of opportunity to sneak into her handbag and devour her egg bites.

The dog owner, @unhingeddogmom, shared a video of her tiny companion sitting in the backseat of her car before the canine made a determined climb into the passenger seat. Once there, the Yorkie rummages confidently through her handbag and helps himself to her snack. The adorable heist has clearly struck a chord with viewers, racking up over 2.1 million likes and more than 10.8 million views.

Overlaid on the video, the owner wrote: “My senior Yorkie who ‘never eats’, inhaling my egg bites while I’m inside the vet buying his prescription diet food.” The caption added even more charm: “Suddenly he wasn’t a weak, frail old man.”

The star of the video is a Yorkshire terrier, one of the most-popular toy-dog breeds, thanks to their compact size and bold, spirited personalities. Yorkies typically weigh up to 7 pounds and are well known for their silky, floor-length coat, button-bright expressions and terrier confidence.

Experts at PetMD say that, for many aging dogs, dietary needs start to shift. Whether a canine should transition to a specialized senior food depends on several factors, including their overall health, weight, lifestyle and any existing medical conditions

Senior dog formulas may contain adjusted nutrients, additional joint-support ingredients or modifications for conditions such as kidney disease. Still, changes in diet aren’t strictly age-based; veterinarians often recommend tailoring food choices to each dog’s specific needs rather than automatically switching based on age alone. That is precisely why the Yorkie’s owner was at the vet—purchasing prescription low-fat food for her pup, who struggles with pancreatitis.

Egg bites—the object of the Yorkie’s determination—are a popular human breakfast item, usually made from scrambled eggs blended with ingredients such as cheese, cream or vegetables and baked into small rounds or squares.

Dogs can safely eat cooked eggs in moderation, as long as they are plain and fully cooked, but the extra ingredients often found in egg bites may not be ideal for canines, especially seniors or those with sensitive stomachs.

While the egg itself is generally safe, the added fats, seasonings and dairy could trigger digestive upset—an understandable concern for this owner, given her dog’s medical history.

Still, TikTok viewers couldn’t get enough of the Yorkie’s bold move.

“Aww take him for egg bites once a week but let him steal them! He deserves the excitement,” said Amanda.

“The little look backs to see if your coming LOL omggg [laugh out loud oh my God] I love him give him all the egg bites,” wrote Sky.

“He was like ‘I’m old, not dead. Gimme those egg bites!’” posted another user.

“He was plotting on those egg bites from the jump,” added a third viewer.

“It’s the way he stared right at the camera after inhaling them egg bites,” noted Andre.

“Life isn’t worth living without egg bites. At this age it should be about quality certainly not quantity. From one senior owner to another,” shared Cynthia.

The original poster later replied: “Agree. In moderation of course! My boy struggles with pancreatitis, so his vet prescribed a low-fat diet food, which is what I was inside purchasing for him. Really hope it doesn’t trigger an episode.”
